Dunmore Football 2014 Season

Scranton Prep won the opener at Dunmore, 26-0, on Aug. 29. Dunmore then won 14 in a row and reached the PIAA final. South Fayette won that game at a neutral site on Dec. 13, 28-16. The record is 14-2. District 2 Class 2A and Lackawanna Football Conference Division II titles are both on the championship list.

The state-playoff wins before South Fayette were Lake-Lehman 21-7 at home, Northwest Area 35-0 at home, Northwestern Lehigh 35-27 at a neutral site, Neumann-Goretti 30-18 at a neutral site, and Wyomissing 23-21 at a neutral site. Lakeland was a 28-14 road win on Oct. 10.

The district final was Northwest Area, 35-0, at Dunmore on Nov. 14. Northwest intercepted the third play and reached the Dunmore 10. Justin Rogan stopped Austin Mazonkey on fourth-and-2, and Tyler Lasher returned the next interception 61 yards for a touchdown. The Times-Tribune called it the program's seventh district championship. A 2016 survey names Sal Marchese and Colin Holmes as the 1,000-yard rushers on the team that then lost the PIAA final to South Fayette and Brett Brumbaugh. The 2019 timeline calls that Henzes' second Small School Coach of the Year award, after a 14-game winning streak that started once the opener was lost.
