Dunmore vs Wyoming Area Football Rivalry

Jack Henzes' first game as a head coach was a 27-13 loss to Dunmore on Sept. 9, 1966, when he was at Wyoming Area. The programs split four meetings from 1966 through 1969. While he was at Dunmore, the 2019 preview had him 3-1 against Wyoming Area: a 19-14 win in 1988, another win in 1989 on the way to the state title, a 20-14 postseason loss in 1992, and a 28-14 win in the 1995 District 2 Class 2A final. That preview called 1995 the last meeting before the teams played again in 2019. The regular-season line for 1989 has Dunmore 42, Wyoming Area 16.

Entering the Aug. 28, 2026 opener, the Times-Tribune had the series at 5-5. The last meeting on that line was Wyoming Area 35-6 in 2021.

On Oct. 4, 2019, at Gatto Field at Dunmore Veterans Memorial Stadium, Wyoming Area won 35-14. Steve Borgia scored from 35 yards on a fourth-down draw, and Dunmore led 7-0. Cristian Buckley's 9-yard run tied it at 14 with 9:14 left. Dominic DeLuca returned the kickoff 79 yards, then ran 47 yards, and intercepted a pass that set up Darren Rodney's last touchdown. Rodney finished with 101 yards and three scores.

On Aug. 28, 2026, at Dunmore Veterans Memorial Stadium, Dunmore won 42-0. Weston Yannone had 118 yards receiving, 62 rushing, and three touchdowns. Josef Wolff scored from 29 yards, and Yannone scored from 19 after a fumble and on a 50-yard catch from Brady McCormick. The half ended 28-0. Jacob Costanzo returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards. Wyoming Area turned the ball over five times.
