Dunmore vs Old Forge Football Rivalry
Dunmore led 42-24-8 entering the Aug. 29, 2025 game
Entering the 2025 meeting, the Times-Tribune had Dunmore ahead in the series, 42-24-8. The same notebook, using Roger Saylor's championship counts, had Old Forge first among Lackawanna Football Conference schools in overall titles and Dunmore tied with Lakeland for second. Dunmore led those schools with 14 District 2 championships at that writing. Old Forge had nine. The notebook dates Dunmore's first season to 1899 and Old Forge's to 1916.
They do not play in 2026. The last two meetings were Old Forge 46-43 at Dunmore on Aug. 30, 2024, and Dunmore 45-7 at Old Forge on Aug. 29, 2025. The paper's line is the one entering that 2025 game. A new all-time number after the 45-7 was not printed.
The 2012 regular season was Old Forge 21-0 on the road. The District 2 Class A final, at Old Forge on Nov. 16, was Dunmore 7-6. Austin Seamon blocked the extra point. Entering the 2013 game, the Times-Tribune had the series at Dunmore 36, Old Forge 21, and seven ties, and Henzes at 18-4-3 against Old Forge. That 2013 regular season was Dunmore 21-16 at home. Old Forge won the postseason rematch at Dunmore, 27-7.
The meetings below are the described games from 2006 on. They are not an all-time series.
The 2012 final was at Old Forge on Nov. 16, and both teams were 11-1 in the story. Dunmore's only points came after an Old Forge special-teams penalty, a roughing-the-punter call that extended the drive. Joey Bruno recovered a Dunmore fumble on the first play of the second half, and Brian Tomasetti scored from 3 yards. Austin Seamon blocked Matthew Mancuso's extra point. Michael Boland, who had left with an ankle injury, came back and stopped Tomasetti twice near the end. Seamon credited Michael DeSando for the block he had put on film, and Boland for the man he had promised to take.
Old Forge won the rematch, 27-7, at Dunmore on Nov. 15, 2013, in the District 2 Class A final. The Times-Tribune framed it as revenge for the 7-6 and for the 21-16 regular-season loss that same fall. Entering that Friday, Old Forge was 10-1 and Dunmore was 11-0. Brandon Yescavage's school single-season marks, 1,825 yards and 35 touchdowns, were the numbers in the preview, not a line from the recap. Old Forge's second district title in three seasons sent them to Southern Columbia the next week at Shamokin.
