Trail struck first. Dunmore answered until it was 62-7
Yannone scored on a run, a punt return, and a pick. Costanzo brought one back, too.
Lackawanna Trail needed one play. Lucas Filipek hit Joey Thomas in the middle, Thomas outran the chase, and an 83-yard touchdown put the Lions up 7-0 at Lions Pride Stadium. It was the first touchdown Dunmore's starters had allowed.
The Bucks tied it on their fourth play, Weston Yannone from 50 yards. They forced a punt, and Yannone fair-caught nothing. He fielded it and went 38 yards, and he pointed the call to coach Cameron Young. Jacob Costanzo then jumped a pass and returned it 30 yards. A sack pushed Trail back to its 5. Three plays after a punt, Yannone scored from 29. It was 28-7 with 1:29 left in the first quarter.
Brady McCormick found Jack McHale from 2 yards in the second. Trail reached the Dunmore 39, and Yannone stepped in front of a pass and raced 67 yards down the left sideline. Halftime was 42-7. After that opening strike, the Times-Tribune had Trail at 35 yards of offense, with six punts and two interceptions.
The final was 62-7. Dunmore is 2-0. Kevin McHale's line afterward was about the athletes in all three phases, and about keeping the defense simple.
