The Bucks open with a chip on the shoulder

Dunmore opens Friday against Wyoming Area at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is 7.

Last fall ended at Lakeland, 27-7, in the District 2 Class 2A final. Lineman Carter Davies told the Times-Tribune the loss left a chip, and that the mistakes have to come down. Eleven offensive players and ten defensive players have starting experience back.

Weston Yannone is the quarterback the paper builds the preview around. As a junior he ran for 811 yards and 10 touchdowns and threw for 548 yards and four more, with 30 tackles and three interceptions on defense. Xavier Burke, the LFC Division II coaches' defensive player of the year, had 101 tackles and 438 rushing yards. Brandon Mecca ran for 404. Jack McHale, Logan Miller, and Jake Costanzo are the receivers McHale's staff is counting on.

The line in front of them started last year: Davies, Ethyn Durst, Patrick Dickel, and Brayden Shigo. Kevin McHale is in his eighth season. The Times-Tribune had him 48-34 coming in, and the program all-time mark on that preview at 739-382-52.
