Kevin McHale

McHale played fullback and linebacker for Henzes. He was on the 1993 Big 11 team and the 1995 team that shared a Big 11 title and won Dunmore's first District 2 Class 2A championship. He played that 1995 season with a broken hand. He went to Moravian and moved to tight end. Dunmore named him head coach in May 2019. He was 41. He had been an assistant for 17 seasons and the defensive coordinator from 2008, and he was one of the three assistants who ran the 2018 sideline.

The Times-Tribune's 2026 Gameface listed an eighth season and a 48-34 mark entering the year. His first team, 2019, won a District 2 Class 2A title at 8-5. In 2020 Dunmore won District 2 Class 2A again. The regular season was 3-2. The title was clinched Oct. 31 when Lackawanna Trail lost to Old Forge, 34-19. No championship game was played. The overall record is 3-3 after a 7-47 state loss to Bishop McDevitt. 2023 won District 2 Class 2A again, then lost to Southern Columbia Area 7-39. 2025 was 8-4 and 4-1 in Division II, and Lakeland won the district final 27-7.

In the 2022 opener at Old Forge, 11 players were out for a school-rules violation. McHale said the staff put the suspension on one game instead of spreading it out, and that the Bucks came with 22 or 23. Dunmore won, 43-36. Thomas Bowen threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns. The Oct. 20, 2026 poll has the current team second, with one first-place vote. In the first half this season, Dunmore has outscored opponents 331-10.

Through Oct. 16, 2026, Dunmore is 8-0 and 3-0 in Division II. The Aug. 13 preview names 12 assistants. Those are the names on the roster page. No job beyond assistant is given for any of them.

In the 2024 tradition story he said the program talks about that tradition often, and that the line in town is, Once a Buck, always a Buck. The obituary quoted him on Henzes going to church every day and treating the school and the town as the point of the job.
