On Oct. 21, 2016, at Carbondale, Dunmore tight end George Cole caught a 20-yard pass that set up Colin Holmes' 31-yard touchdown run. Dunmore won 34-7 over Carbondale Area. The Chargers had reached a fourth-and-1 at the Dunmore 16 and been stopped. Seven plays later Holmes scored. Kyle Lasher scored from 20 yards on the third play of the next drive, in the final minute of the first quarter. The next two Dunmore possessions started after kickoffs that settled at the Carbondale 1. Carbondale began at its 6 and its 10, and neither drive got a first down. Jordon Petrowski caught a 7-yard touchdown pass, and Holmes scored from the 2. It was 27-0 at halftime. On the second play of the second half Cole got behind the defense for a 43-yard touchdown catch. Dominic Gigliotti scored from 2 yards with 5:04 left. Dunmore was 9-0 and 8-0 in the division and had clinched a tie for the division title. Carbondale Area was 3-6 and 2-6. Gavin Darcy threw both touchdown passes. Jack Henzes said Carbondale came out and did a nice job, the Bucks responded, and the team left without a major injury.

On Nov. 18, 2016, at Harman-Geist Stadium in Hazle Twp., Dunmore beat York Catholic 48-35 in the PIAA Class 2A first round. Dunmore had trailed by two scores. Nate Fangio recovered a Jakkar Kinard fumble at the Dunmore 49. Ten plays later, on fourth-and-6 from the York Catholic 13, Darcy hit Cole on a screen for a touchdown. Mark Rinaldi's kick made it 19-14 with 2:53 left in the second quarter. Dan Yokemick then fumbled, Lasher recovered, and Lasher scored from 11 yards three plays later. Dunmore led 20-19 with 1:22 left before halftime.

The Nov. 23, 2016 sheet lists Cole as a senior tight end, 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, wearing 45. With Dunmore 13-0, he had 12 catches for 212 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore he blocked for a running game that reached a District 2 Class 2A title and the state playoffs. He dislocated a shoulder and tore the labrum in the state-playoff win over Northwestern Lehigh and did not play again that postseason. A concussion and a torn meniscus cost him games as a junior. He came back for the 2016 season.

In 2017 he was a first-year tight end at Misericordia, No. 85, listed at 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, from Dunmore. The roster bio says he saw junior varsity action and that he had lettered in football, basketball, and baseball at Dunmore.
