Brett Trichilo
Running back · 1997-2000 · Wilkes
On Oct. 13, 2000, at V.J. Gatto Stadium, Trichilo rushed for 229 yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns in a 47-0 win over Meyers. He had 200 yards by halftime. The touchdowns included runs of 1 and 63 yards in the first quarter, and he also broke a 50-yard run. He did not play after the first series of the third quarter. Dunmore was 7-0 and had won a 20th straight regular-season game. Bob Mancuso was 7 of 15 for 116 yards.
He was a senior, 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds. A hip pointer kept him out against Western Wayne. He called the Week 4 game against Scranton Prep his best, at 231 yards and three touchdowns. He had come into that season after rushing for more than 2,000 yards the year before.
A Nov. 3, 2019 look-back, under 20 years ago, has him at 242 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-13 win over Lakeland. The Aug. 28, 2013 notes have him at 4,524 yards from 1997 to 2000. The 2015 flashback says injuries marked the senior year, that he still led Dunmore into the District 2 Class AA playoffs, and that he was the 1999 offensive player of the year. The Dec. 25, 2016 list has him as the 2000 Fiore Cesare winner.
At Wilkes he won the Melberger Award in 2003 and again in 2004, the award for the best player in NCAA Division III. He was a three-time All-MAC selection, a two-time MAC Player of the Year, and a two-time All-ECAC and Division III All-American. The Wilkes records in the May 27, 2023 hall-of-fame story are 384 points, 5,837 rushing yards, a single-season 2,185 yards in 2003, and game records of 30 points, five touchdowns, and 316 rushing yards. He went into the Wilkes Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015, onto the MAC All-Century Team in 2012, and into the MAC Hall of Fame in that 2023 announcement.
